All the registered GATE/GPAT candidates and PGECET qualified and eligible candidates of 2013 are informed to attend PGEC / PGECET Web Counseling for admission into M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Planning/ M.Pharmacy/Pharm.D (P.B.) courses for the academic year 2013-2014 as per the schedule given below at any one of the Help Line centers.

Candidates who have already attended for Certificate Verification in First Phase can directly exercise web options for second Phase.

Candidates are informed that they should satisfy the admission rules prescribed in the related G.O. besides satisfying the eligibility criteria of the respective universities and should be prepared to pay the tuition fee as applicable.

The left over seats after allotment for GATE / GPAT Candidates are alone available for PGECET candidates

This notification itself is a call for counseling. No separate call letters are sent to the individual candidates.

Mere attending counseling does not guarantee a seat.

Candidates have to pay non-refundable processing fee of Rs.300/- (SC/ST) and Rs.600/-(others) at the time of certificate verification.

Who should participate in final phase
a) Who secure a seat in earlier phase of web based counseling and wish to move to some other college.
b) Candidates who participated in earlier phase of web based counseling and could not secure a seat.
c) Candidates who did not participate in earlier phase even though he / she has been called for counseling.
d) Candidates who were allotted a seat but didn’t report / pay the fee at the college
e) A candidate allotted a seat in earlier phase but cancelled his / her admission.

It has been observed that the Certificate Verification process is not commenced in certain Help Line Centers due to the ongoing agitation. Reports have been received that many of the qualified Candidates also could not reach the Help Line Centers due to lack of Transport facilities. In this connection, the qualified candidates are requested to please note the following:

The Candidates who could not get their Certificates verified will be given time for Verification and Option Entry. Separate Schedule will be given for such candidates.

Hyderabad: Engineering students are all set to go the way of medicos from this academic year with regard to internship. State universities will implement “mandatory internship” in all its affiliated engineering colleges for students taking admissions into BE/ B.Tech courses from this academic year as per the directions of All India Council for Technical Education, to improve employability skills among engineering graduates.

The state has the worst employability record with less than 10 per cent engineering graduates finding employment from the thousand of engineers being churned out by over 700 engineering colleges. The internship period will vary from 3 months to 24 months in the final three semesters, depending on the branch of study.

Unlike medical students, there is no such provision for mandatory internship for engineering students in the state. Some colleges have been adopting “industry-oriented projects” for students pursuing third and fourth year to help them secure jobs in good companies during campus recruitment drives.

Since this is being done on an ‘optional basis,’ only few city colleges with good track record have been giving hands-on training to students. “The mandatory internship is being introduced from this year as per the directions of AICTE issued in May this year.

This will be applicable to students in fifth, sixth and seventh semesters which will vary from 3 months to 24 months depending on the branch of study. The aim is to enhance the employability of students,” said Prof N.V. Ramana Rao, registrar, JNTU-Hyderabad.

He said the initiative is being undertaken as part of the AICTE’s National Employability Enhancement Mission. AICTE is also planning to launch its own job portal.

Hyderabad: The long-delayed notification to commence Eamcet engineering counselling is expected to be issued on August 13. Eamcet committee is scheduled to meet on Monday to finalise the modalities.
Counselling has already been delayed by over two months due to delay in fixing fees for engineering courses and legal tangle in the AP High Court over management quota admissions. As per the recent HC directions, counselling has to be commenced from August 19.
The Eamcet committee is expected to make a public appeal requesting all political parties, student organisations etc. to exempt counselling centres from bandhs and agitations. Following the agitation in Seemandhra, officials, students and parents are concerned about the counselling.

Certificate verification / Web counseling for admission into ME/M.Tech/M.Pharm/M.Arch for the academic year 2013-14 commenced from 30th July 2013 and is scheduled rank wise upto 11th August 2013, whereas option entry is scheduled up to 16th August 2013. So far about 45000 students have attended for certificate verification. In view of the disturbances in some places the certificate verification is extended up to 16th August 2013(Except on 15th August 2013) and option entry is extended upto 19th August 2013. The students those who could not get their certificates verified as per the schedule may attend for the same at any Help line center on or before 16th August 2013 5 P.M. 1) Examinations for all the 21 papers will be conducted by an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT). The online examination paper will contain some questions for which numerical answers must be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keypad. Rest of the questions shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type.

2) GATE 2014 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon sessions on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 1st February 2014 and 2nd March 2014. Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2014 will be held in multiple sessions. Exact details on complete examination schedule will be notified at a later date.

3) A new paper "Ecology and Evolution" is introduced in GATE 2014.
